On June 6 and 7, 2016, NYC Health + Hospitals/ Bellevue hosted NETEC’s Ebola Preparedness Simulation Course.

Under the guidance of numerous subject matter experts, 30 clinicians from across the United States obtained hands-on experience practicing several essential skills required to safely care for patients with Ebola Virus Disease.  Skills such as peripheral IV insertion and lab draws, central line insertion, intubation, spill clean-up, and waste management while donned in full PPE were practiced.  In addition, clinicians were involved in extensive immersive simulation scenarios to include de-escalation of  an agitated patient, a pediatric patient wet linen change, and removal of  a non-responsive healthcare worker from the hot zone. All of these simulation skills and immersive scenarios were followed by an extensive debrief session of lessons learned.
