Focus on advancing global standards, capacity and collaboration
A two-day workshop held in Washington, D.C., focused advancing global standards, capacity and collaboration in high-level isolation units. NETEC was a sponsor, along with the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security, and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.
Participants in the April event represented several countries. Members of NETEC and Regional Treatment Centers also took part.
Topics included criteria for high-level isolation, high-level isolation unit design and clinical capabilities, pathogen-specific strategies for PPE and staffing, and international networking of high-level isolation units.
Funding for the event was provided by the U.S. Health & Human Services Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response and the Centers for Disease Control.
