NETEC has released its FY23 Annual Report, which encapsulates NETEC’s unwavering commitment to enhancing special pathogen preparedness, fostering international collaboration, and supporting safe and equitable patient care delivery. Here are some of the highlights from this year’s report:

  • Response to SUDV Outbreak in Uganda: Amidst the outbreak of Sudan ebolavirus disease (SUDV) in Uganda, NETEC, in collaboration with the Regional Emerging Special Pathogen Treatment Centers (RESPTCs), played a pivotal role in preparing health care workers and fortifying preparedness through the development of essential resources and collaboration efforts.
  • Rapid Assessment and Readiness Initiatives: NETEC spearheaded the development of a rapid self-assessment checklist to assess hospital and EMS agency readiness for managing SUDV/VHF cases. Additionally, onsite readiness assessments were conducted in priority jurisdictions adjacent to major airports, showcasing our proactive approach to preparedness.
  • Expansion and Maturation of the National Special Pathogen System (NSPS): Over the past year, NETEC has made significant progress in advancing the objectives of the NSPS: defining the structure and governance, strengthening the NETEC Coordinating Body as the convener in response, engaging key partners across the national health care ecosystem to identify essential capabilities within the tiered System of Care, testing those capabilities through pilot workshops, and further developing the capacity of the network to sustain an infrastructure for coordinated and standardized special pathogen response.
  •  Extending Partnerships Through the RESPTCs: The addition of three RESPTCs in FY23 will extend the NSPS’s reach and enhance national capacity to respond promptly to emerging threats. NETEC embraced these new partners and played a crucial role in conducting onsite technical assistance in their first year. In FY23, NETEC provided additional technical support, educational resources, and engaged in a series of information exchanges to contribute to the maturation of these programs.
