NETEC was initially founded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). It works closely with the 13 U.S. Regional Emerging Special Pathogen Treatment Centers (RESPTCs) and others to advance special pathogen readiness.

In 2014, Emory University Hospital successfully treated four patients with Ebola virus disease, including the first Ebola patient in the U.S. Emory’s groundbreaking work on Ebola led to innovations in patient care that continue to be implemented worldwide. NYC Health + Hospitals / Bellevue

Tracing its roots back to 1736, NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue is the flagship hospital of the country’s largest municipal healthcare system, dedicated to serving a diverse patient population and eliminating health disparities. It is an internationally renowned academic medical institution and the major teaching site for the NYU Grossman School of Medicine. Bellevue has a long history of responding to infectious disease threats. During the spring of 2020, when NYC was the epicenter of the pandemic, Bellevue served as a pillar of the city’s response, providing innovative care to unprecedented numbers of critically ill patients. Since then, Bellevue has led the way in sharing experiences with colleagues around the country to advance their preparedness. Bellevue defines the best traditions of medicine as a public service vital to the well-being of our society.
